Calligraphy refers to the art of writing letters in a beautiful way, and is an expressive medium where the letters come alive-vibrant and pulsating. In today’s world where everything is just one click away or one type away the art of writing has been struggling to capture the minds of young people and thus faces a grim future. To instill among our Presidians, appreciation for penning down words on a piece of paper, the school organised a calligraphy and typography workshop. The students learnt to bring out the beauty of every alphabet through calligraphy. It was an interesting workshop wherein they not only developed a fondness for a different style of writing, but also discovered their artistic side.

‘Play gives children a chance to practice what they’re learning.’ With this fact in mind, a math lab activity was conducted at Presidium Gurgaon to make the students learn about perfect squares and their square roots. They created a game using two different coloured A4 size sheets. They wrote numbers up to 30 and their squares in random order in one of the sheets. They then used it to ask squares of any number(up to 30) from their classmates. This activity helped them not only in generating interest in the concept of squares and square roots but also in improving mental maths.

PRESIDIANS LEARN ABOUT OHM’S LAW WITH A PHYSICS EXPERIMENT!
A Physics experiment was conducted with an aim to verify Ohm’s Law and to garner interest among students about the topic of Current Electricity. After verifying the law, students obtained the value of resistance of the nichrome wire that was used in the experiment. Students were first given a theoretical description of Ohm’s law and then they were introduced with apparatus involved in verifying the Law. They were explained how to use the apparatus and construct a proper circuit diagram. They were explained how to evaluate the zero error and least counts of the instruments used in the circuit (like Voltmeter and the Ammeter) and finally how to take the readings. Students successfully used the apparatus and made a circuit diagram and took the necessary readings. They drew an observation table clearing indicating the values of currents and corresponding values of potential differences. They ultimately plotted an IV graph and by calculating the slope of the graph, they determined the value of resistance of the wire and hence verified Ohm’s law. At the end, few viva and conceptual questions were discussed.
