PRESIDIANS OBSERVE BIOLOGICAL PHENOMENA WITH SPOTTING ACTIVITY

The science enthusiasts of Presidium Gurgaon recently indulged in the Biology Activity of Spotting of different specimens, slides, models and charts as prescribed by the CBSE for the students of grade 11 and 12. Students observed various biological phenomena under the headings of pollen germination, T.S. of ovary and testis, meiosis in onion root tip, T.S. of blastula, Entamoeba histolytica, Mendelian ratio, pedigree chart, Xerophytic plants and animals, Aquatic plants and animals. It was a great learning experience for the Presidians.

PRESIDIUM GURGAON HOSTS THE FINAL ROUND OF THE 'MAHA BEHAS'

Maha Behes, the Season Finale was recently held on 15th and 16th December at Presidium Gurugram. The event witnessed over 700 debaters from more than 15 cities to battle it out for a shot at the coveted national title - a chance at being the Maha Behes Champions 2018. The top teams after proving their mettle at the regional rounds, came together to compete against each other during the most intense two days of the season.

VICTORY OF 20 MEDALS FROM 30TH DELHI STATE TAEKWONDO CHAMPIONSHIP

Our Taekwondo champs recently participated 30th Delhi State Taekwondo championship held at Thyagraj Stadium, INA, New Delhi from 8th to 11th December 2018. The competitors (loudly!) cheered on their teammates from the first match of the morning to the evening’s. Every match matters, as each fight won and patterns round progressed awards points towards each school’s overall title total! The Presidians gave exceptional performances and stunned everyone with their moves. Total 20 medals bagged by our students consisting of 7 gold, 6 silver and 7 bronze. The event culminated with a valedictory ceremony where all the participants received a participation certificate. Winners and runners-up received their certificates and medals. The coaches and referees were also felicitated for their contribution.

PRESIDIANS SALUTE THE COURAGEOUS INDIAN ARMY ON VIJAY DIWAS

Vijay Diwas marks the military victory of India over Pakistan during the war of independence of Bangladesh from Pakistan. A special assembly was organized by Presidium to pay a tribute to the
martyrs who sacrificed their life for the country. The students of Grade 3 presented a musical skit on the heroes of the Indo-Pak war of 1971. The students were dressed in army uniform to depict the real
characters who lost their life in the combat. The songs such as Sandese aate hai, aye watan, kar chale hum fida during the skit truly instilled a sense of patriotism among the learners. The students also spoke about the Captains and Majors in the war who will always be remembered for their valour. The assembly truly highlighted the spirit of valour and sacrifice made by the soldiers. It sensitized the students to remember and appreciate the contribution of the courageous Indian Army in protecting our nation.

CITATION CEREMONY: ACKNOWLEDGING THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF PRESIDIANS

As the young Presidiums get ready to spread their wings and fly out to meet the challenges of the world, it is time to shower our choicest blessings on them for their bright future. Presidium recently organized the Citation Ceremony for the outgoing batch of grade 12. Honourable, Chairperson Mrs Sudha Gupta graced the occasion, which was also attended by the parents and staff members. The event began with an engaging mix of entertainment, solemnity and inspiration. Students walked up to the stage holding a symbolic lighted lamp, shunning ignorance and moving towards knowledge. They were awarded with a personalized citation in recognition of their talent and achievements. Each student also received a batch as a souvenir and a jersey for remembrance. Mrs. Sudha Gupta and the Principal offered their advice, blessings and good wishes to all those leaving the portals of the school.

YOUNG PRESEDIANS LEARN ABOUT THE CONCEPT OF ‘LENGTH’

Understanding Mathematics can be a little tricky sometimes. To help students learn some of the basic concepts of Mathematics, an interesting activity was conducted for the students of grade 2 on the topic ‘Length’. Students were told about the different ways of measuring length- Non Standard Units of Measurement and Standard Unit of Measurement. Students measured the length using their hand span & scale and compared their findings. It was a great teaching tool as they learned about various concepts related to Length in an interesting and fun way.

PRESIDIANS USE ‘DIENE’S BLOCKS’ TO UNDERSTAND CUBES & CUBOIDS

Learning by doing is one of the main teaching tool here at Presidium. Continuing with the initiative, a maths activity was recently conducted at Presidium Gurgaon to teach students about calculating volume of cubes and cuboids using diene’s blocks. Students were able to identify the length, breadth and height of the cuboids and found out the volume by counting the number of blocks used. With this activity, students were able to generate the formula as well. The activity helped them visualise the shapes and understand the theory behind the formula.

PRESIDIANS LEARN ABOUT THE PROPERTIES OF AIR WITH AN EXPERIMENT

Presidium believes in using experiments to make understanding of the important concepts of science interesting. With this thought, Presidium Gurgaon recently organised a science activity for the students of grade 4 on the topic expansion of hot and cold air. Student used balloons and a plastic bottle to understand the expansion of hot air and the resultant loss in weight. The behaviour of cold air was also observed as it affected the balloon. It was a great learning experience for the young Presidians.
