PRESIDIANS CELEBRATE WORLD HERITAGE DAY VIRTUALLY

An online celebration of World Heritage Day, which is observed on 18th April every year, was organized for Grade 7th and 8th students by Presidium School. The core objective of this session was to create awareness and sensitize young minds about the historical monuments and heritage sites across the world. The session began with the power-point presentation on World Heritage Day, which was defined as the shared wealth of mankind. The session progressed with the quiz, with a special emphasis on UNESCO Heritage Sites, prepared by the teachers to fulfill the quest for knowledge of young Presidians. The quiz was an instant hit with the students as they were all eager to showcase their competitiveness. The students also showed their models of ancient buildings and structures available at their end. It helped the faculties to bring students a step closer to the accumulated wealth of  humankind and imbibing the sense of preserving the cultural heritage for our future generations.

PRESIDIANS WISH EVERYONE A HAPPY BAISAKHI WITH A SPECIAL ASSEMBLY

The festival of Baisakhi is celebrated with a lot of joy and enthusiasm in the northern state of Punjab and Haryana. For the predominant Sikh population of Punjab, Baisakhi is one the biggest festivals as it marks the foundation day of Khalsa Panth by the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh. Sikh communities located anywhere in the world celebrate Baisakhi by participating in the special prayer meets and Baisakhi processions. Students of Grade 2 sang songs and performed bhangra on the joyous occasion of Baisakhi, the harvest festival of Punjab, as part of special activities conducted online. It was an eminent celebration as teachers and students merriment over online sessions. Students of Grade 3 showcased their artistic skills by creating beautiful cards on the theme. The celebration brought our Presidians closer to the dazzling beauty of the Indian culture.

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar is known as The Father of the Indian Constitution due to his instrumental role in drafting the Indian Constitution, a significant building block of India as an independent nation. He was also the first Law Minister of Independent India. He was a social reformer to the core, who strived for equality among all castes of the Hindu society and for Indians as a whole. On the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti, discussion regarding class norms was done, students were apprised about why class norms are important and were told about the way we make our class norms to maintain discipline, by not fighting with each other, helping each other etc in class, a similar way there are certain norms that a country forms and follows, those rules are called the constitution.

Devansh Sharma, a student of grade 8, represented Gurgaon district in Sub-junior (under 14) boys roller Hockey in the Haryana State Championship held recently at Kurukshetra. The team won Silver and is now selected to play nationals representing Haryana. Nationals will be held at Chandigarh soon.

Extempore is the art of public speaking that is carried out without preparation or forethought. It puts to test one's ability to think on the spot and also enhances communication. An Inter-class Extempore Competition was held at Presidium school for Grade 12 students. Participation was mandatory for all. Students were asked to speak on the given topic for a minute. The topics in the competition were associated with current issues like Covid 19, unemployment, poverty, globalization, Computers, etc. Students were judged based on the relevance of content, fluency, pronunciation, and confidence. All the students participated enthusiastically.
