“Take action. Inspire change. Make every day a Mandela Day (18th July).” -Hannah Knight.

Students of Grade 4 celebrated Mandela day with great enthusiasm. They gave speeches and also shared quotes about the great leader. The celebration began with a sharing about the importance of this day. Few students shared points from the biography of Mandela. Inspiring and motivational quotes about the great leader were also shared. All the other students took an oath that they will always help and be there for a person in need. They also enjoyed listening to the song “House of Exile” by Lucky Dube.

STUDENTS EXHIBIT THEIR SKILLS WHILE THE BLOW PAINTING ACTIVITY

Blow painting is an exciting activity for kids, it provides some great opportunities for experimentation, and the resulting artwork is really amazing. This is a process art activity that is truly frame-worthy Science, like art, is a creative process, which begins with curiosity and leads to discovery and exploration. Blow painting is a beautiful example of this. Our budding scientists of Grade 2 were ready with a variety of different coloured watery paints, a straw, and a piece of an A4 sheet. Initially, the teacher showed them how they can make the paint move across the paper, and then the students began to investigate with colours. The joy and wonder that they displayed while doing blow painting with a straw and paint were amazing. The students were fascinated by this creative and exploratory process, delighted, and we're telling each other about what they could see, what they thought, and what it made them wonder about.

ANOTHER PROUD MOMENT FOR PRESIDIUM!

Rajveer Singh Rekhi, a student of grade 5C of Presidium has shown all-round excellence this year, be it art, maths, science, or English, and made his parents and school proud. He has secured 2nd rank in Puzzle Bee Contest at the National level which saw up to 15000 students and was involved in logical reasoning and cognitive tasks. He received Rs 1001, a certificate, a gift hamper, a badge, and a memento.
 
Rajveer also participated in the Global Illustrated Writing contest by ELLA where his drawing & essay on "How Covid has changed our everyday lives" was selected in India's Top 10 club and he was felicitated with a certificate & gift hamper in an online ceremony. Thereafter his work was also sent to their global head office in Korea. Rajveer also participated in Chhulo Aasman National Space Art Contest organized by Bharat Olympiad Foundation registered under MSME, Govt of India. He received a consolation prize medal and certificate.

USHERING PRESIDIANS ON THE PATH OF LEADERSHIP!

Stateliness, solemnity, and the spirit to serve were the quintessence of the grand online Investiture Ceremony of Presidium School. The Chairperson of the school, Mrs. Sudha Gupta in her speech, urged the student leaders to create leadership opportunities for others and at the same time, set an example through their actions and contribution for their juniors to emulate. A soulful Sufi musical composition added sublimity to the ceremony. It was a truly defining moment when the Student Council members received their badges of office and certificates. The passion to serve their school was written large on the faces of each newly elected appointee as they took the oath which was administered by the Vice-Principal. The Head Boy and Head-Girl in their emotional speeches expressed their gratitude to the school management, heads, and teachers for the trust reposed in them. The close bond between the school and parents was evident when the parents of a few Student Council members thanked the school for its sincere efforts to groom its students to become the torch bearers of tomorrow. A few representatives from the Junior and Senior Club Profiles too appeared overcome with emotions as they thanked the school profusely for the leadership opportunities.

STUDENTS SHOWCASE THEIR TALENT AT RECITATION COMPETITION

Poem Recitation is a mode of expression, a medium to reflect the latest talents of the young ones. Rhymes can prove to be instrumental stepping stones for young children to learn English and help them especially in the early stages of learning the language. Keeping this in mind English Recitation Competition for Grade Prep and Nursery was organized. All the students who participated in this competition came prepared with different rhymes of their choice. Each child was given a chance to recite a rhyme, and it was a delight to hear these little ones singing in rhyme and rhythm. Beauty is the realm of poetry, the children enjoy the beauty with their expression, feelings, and music of words. Taking all these facts into consideration the participants got an opportunity to exhibit their confidence, expression & talent in the competition & enjoyed themselves thoroughly.

PAINTING COMPETITION: PRESIDIANS EXHIBIT HUES OF CREATIVITY

Students showcased their talent and creativity through painting the plain canvas. A painting competition was organized at Presidium wherein the school students of Grade 6, 7 & 8 enthusiastically participated. Topics for the competition accorded for different Grades were.

Grade 6: One India different Culture.
Grade 7: Step to be taken for a healthy Earth.
Grade 8: Helping animals in covid times.

It was amazing to watch how little artists creatively portrayed such issues wondrously. The competition was like an extravagance for the little painters and the spectators as well, as they used their brilliance of painting blended with the perceptions displayed on the painting sheet.

UNDERSTANDING & COMBATING CYBER BULLYING!

Presidium School organized a webinar on cyber-bullying and cyber-security. The main idea behind conducting the workshop was to spread awareness among the students about the relevance of cyber-bullying in the technological virtual world where misuse of the internet is swelling day by day. The webinar showcased various risks and tips while using the internet. The Speaker gave various examples to the students to make themselves aware and to protect themselves from virtual predators. The students were made aware of the CBSE Recommended Action against Cyber Bullying, Information Technology Act,2000, Indian Penal code (IPC), Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. They were forewarned about using the internet safely and were prodded about the vital role of making them sensitive and amiable towards each other while using the internet and social media. The session was informative, enlightening, and educational.

National Doctors Day is celebrated every year all across India on the 1st of July to honor the most famous and legendary physician as well as 2nd Chief Minister of West Bengal, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. National Doctors Day Assembly was marked as the day of respect for all professional doctors who have made commendable efforts in saving the lives of patients by students of grade 3 B. The celebration helped students to get aware of the roles, importance, and precious care of the doctors. They dedicated the assembly to the medical profession, especially for doctors and physicians, to commemorate their efforts and roles. The students did role-play of doctor and nurse. Students also thanked them for their love, affection, and priceless care they give to their patients through various acts, speech, poems, etc.
