Janmashtami, Hindu festival celebrating the birth (janma) of the god Krishna on the eighth
(ashtami) day of the dark fortnight of the month of Bhadrapada (August–September). The
number eight has another significance in the Krishna legend in that he is the eighth child of his
mother, Devaki. Our school celebrated Janmasthami with a special assembly, where a skit, with diverse ‘Leelas’ of Sri Krishna, were enacted by the students illustrating the fact that whenever there will be dominance of malevolence ‘He’ will reincarnate to destroy the evil and save the good. It was nonetheless brought to life by the scintillating dance performances.This was followed by a couple of group songs on the childhood of Sri Krishna. A fancy dress competition for Nursery was also held where the girls were decked up as Radha and the boys as Sri Krishna. With their laudable performance, they lit up the stage and mesmerized the audience
