With a vision to inculcate creative exploration and design thinking in young minds by using
daily life materials to create spectacular artworks, Hungarian Information and Cultural Centre
and gallery Art’est – An Art Abode together have designed exclusively for school kids,
free art workshop titled ‘STONE CREATIVES’. This unique art workshop was conducted by two eminent artists, Ms. Magyar Judit Mária from Hungary and Ms. Vinita Vasu from India and children were taught how to use various daily life materials to create exquisite artworks. The artworks created by children during the workshop will also be displayed at gallery ‘Art’est- An Art Abode’ along with the artworks of Ms. Magyar Judit Mária and Ms.Vinita Vasu as a part of the art exhibition ‘Speaking Stones’ which will be on display in the gallery from April 28-May 7, 2019. Children participated in this prestigious workshop and were very happy to learn new innovative art form of its own kind.

We believe in sensitizing children by teaching such values of life. We started the new session by introducing theme for the month where children will learn to share and care for each other. True sharing implies empathy, the ability to get into another’s mind and see things from their viewpoint. Learning how to share also implies how to become a good human being and a more
efficient member of the society and cultivating strong relationships. For this, it is important that
the child is encourage sharing through tasks and activities. These values have to be fostered both at home by parents and at schools by teachers so that they become an important trait in the personality of the child and remain with the individual throughout his life. Children shared their games, toys, books, and watched movies together to celebrate this joy of sharing.

LABOUR DAY CELEBRATIONS INSTILL RESPECT & LOVE IN PRESIDIANS

To commemorate Labour Day and to appreciate and thank the selfless service of the uncles and aunties, who work with full dedication and ensure the hygiene and security of school, the students of Presidium Gurgaon celebrated Labour Day . The function started with a Special Assembly by students of grade 3. They highlighted the historical events that contributed to the emergence of labour rights and the significance of the day in the present time. The head of the institution acknowledged the contributions of the workforce of the school, and lauded their ceaseless efforts for the welfare of the students. Children of various classes invited them to spare some valuable time for themselves and play some games with them so that they get rejuvenated and remain positive and vibrant.

WORLD DANCE DAY: A CELEBRATION OF BEING FREE & LIMITLESS!

‘Dance’ is one word that can set anybody’s feet pulsating and swaying to its rhythm. Everybody likes to dance in their own way. It is also a form of expression, social interaction which may be presented in a spiritual or performance setting. Various forms of dances are performed all over the world for various purposes. Since dancing has been an integral part of human culture, there is certainly a day to mark its presence too. World Dance Day, which is celebrated every year to revel in the universality of this art form. Celebrations of World Dance Day in the presence of honourable Chairperson Mrs. Sudha Gupta made the day even more special and exciting. A spell binding performance by young Kathak prodigy Ashlesha Singh enthralled the audience with her mudras. Anu Rawal ma’am also gave a mesmerizing performance with a message to improve people’s lives by promoting and inculcating dance as a habit, hobby and lifestyle for better and healthy living.

‘Calligraphy — The written beauty of feelings threw Alphabets.’
Calligraphy refers to the art of writing letters in a beautiful way, and is an expressive medium where the letters come alive-vibrant and pulsating. In today’s world where everything is just one click away or one type away the art of writing has been struggling to capture the minds of young people and thus faces a grim future. To instill among our Presidians, appreciation for penning down words on a piece of paper, the school organised a calligraphy and typography workshop. The students learnt to bring out the beauty of every alphabet through calligraphy. It was an interesting workshop wherein they not only developed a fondness for a different style of writing, but also discovered their artistic side.

EARTH DAY: SPREADING THE MESSAGE OF PROTECTING MOTHER EARTH!

Earth Day was celebrated enthusiastically at Presidium Gurgaon to sensitise students about the need to protect our Mother Earth. Several activities like poster making, skit, paper bag making, tree plantation, screening of film on chipko movement were organized. Earth Day is a great time to plan fun, educational, and action-oriented activities which showcase classroom environmental education, highlighting efforts to “green” the school facility by engaging students in activities like debates, Green Initiative – Science Fair, Earth Day Poster contest, Earth Day Quiz Contest, Green Initiative Art Exhibition Mural, Sculpture, Earth Day Poetry Contest, Scavenger Hunt, Plant a Seed Race, Collect Non – Biodegradable Race & Earth Day Parade. Children were made aware that every day is earth day and the purpose of celebrating this Day is to help in keeping our grass green and our skies blue with more trees and less pollution.

MATH ACTIVITY: WHAT’S THE SQUARE ROOT OF

‘Play gives children a chance to practice what they’re learning.’ With this fact in mind, a math lab activity was conducted at Presidium Gurgaon to make the students learn about perfect squares and their square roots. They created a game using two different coloured A4 size sheets. They wrote numbers up to 30 and their squares in random order in one of the sheets. They then used it to ask squares of any number(up to 30) from their classmates. This activity helped them not only in generating interest in the concept of squares and square roots but also in improving mental maths.

BAISAKHI: PRESIDIAN CELEBRATE THE FESTIVAL OF NEW HARVEST & HOPE!

Baisakhi marks the harvest of rabi crops and farmers offer thanksgiving for a good harvest and prosperity. The day is celebrated with folk dances like bhangra and gidda. Festival is mainly celebrated in North India as the “Punjabi New Year”. It is celebrated all around India under different names like Puthandu in Tamil Nadu, Pooram Vishu in Kerala, Naba Barsha in Bengal, Rongali Bihu in Assam and Baishakha in Bihar. People take a holy dip in the Ganges, Jhelum, Kaveri and visit temples. India is a land of many cultures which blend into each other seamlessly. Each region has its own way of celebrating New Year usually when the crops are harvested. In Punjab, this day is celebrated as Baisakhi. To give an insight of this day, the students of Presidium celebrated Baisakhi through a special assembly. The entire school campus was immersed in the spirit of festivity as the little ones came dressed in ethnic attire representing the Punjabi culture. The day started by seeking the blessings of Almighty through Shabad. The significance of Baisakhi was highlighted through a beautiful speech delivered, a mellifluous group song by the school choir and a dance performance by the young students followed by a mesmerizing punjabi folk dance performance. The tiny tots enjoyed the beats of the dhol and their joy had no limit. The students also shared special Punjabi Cuisine with their friends during the lunch break. A video highlighting the significance of Baisakhi was also shown to the students in their respective classrooms. Speaking on the occasion, Head of institution congratulated and appreciated all the students for giving such scintillating and vivacious performances.

PRESIDIANS INDULGE IN AN INTERESTING ASTRONOMY WORKSHOP!

Presidium Gurgaon, in its continuous endeavor to bring the best and the latest in the field of education to its students, organized an Astronomy and Space Science Club in association with SPACE. SPACE introduced the concept of Astronomy Club in Indian school Education system. It is the only organization consistently working with students, offering innovative education and making learning interesting. The workshop was organised with an aim to increase the scientific temper and positive attitude towards science and environment, improve the personality of the child through improvement in life skills, team spirit and interpersonal skills & through media interaction, enhance thinking process and learn Science in an interesting way, learn to handle telescope independently and plan observation. The objective was to nurtures a young league of students and citizen scientists who aspire to learn, grow and follow in the footsteps of 21st century’s noted Indian astronomers Aryabhatta, S. Chandrashekhar, and the contemporary astronauts Kalpana Chawla and Sunita William etc. Our leaders of tomorrow will pave the path to a scientifically evolved world with their rational thinking and quest to attain knowledge.
