OBSERVING WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY IN THE AEGIS OF SUDHA MA'AM
1 in 5 people experiences mental illness at some point or the other in the lives. It's time to talk, it's time to change!
Considering that untreated and undiagnosed depression is the leading cause of suicide and third leading cause of death among teenagers, adolescent mental health should be on top priority for schools as their present wellbeing directly affects their and our country's future. To spread awareness about the importance of positive mental health and equip adolescents with skills to cope effectively with stressors, a 'Mind Your Mind' workshop was recently organized at Presidium Gurgaon on the occasion of World Mental Health Day.
Firmly believing in the importance of investing in the emotional health of 'leaders of tomorrow', the honourable chairperson of Presidium, Mrs. Sudha Gupta also graced the event, along with many renowned external experts. More than 200 11th and 12th grade students from Presidium and other schools in Gurgaon participated in this impeccable experience of healthy interaction, mutual learning and live sessions on dance and expressive arts therapy. It was heartwarming to see the youngsters getting transformed into more aware and empowered students, who can embrace positivity, enhance their emotional and mental wellbeing and perform at their highest potential.
DOORVA BAGS 2ND PLACE AT SGFI DISTRICT CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2017

At Presidium, we believe in raising a generation packed with such high hopes and confidence to achieve big in life and Doorva Garg is one such living example. Doorva performed wonderfully and bagged the prestigious second position in under 14 girls category of SGFI Gurgaon District Chess Championship 2017. Giving a tough competition to the 25 participants from different schools of Gurgaon, she scored 3.5 points in 5 rounds. She is selected for SGFI Haryana State Chess Championship 2017, which will be held at Yamuna Nagar soon.

SENSITIZING THE PRESIDIANS TOWARDS ENERGY CONSERVATION ISSUES
Energy conserved is life preserved!
To inculcate the habit of energy conservation in our young students, the Ministry of Power in association with Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) recently organized a ‘painting competition on energy conservation’ as a part of its National Awareness campaign 2017 at Presidium, Gurgaon. The competition aimed at sensitizing the Presidians of grades 4 to 9 towards the issues of energy conservation. The students participated proactively and expressed their creative talent vividly to highlight the various themes like home or office, saving energy is better, get friendly with energy saving star, be polite, turn off the light, switch off light when outside is bright, no excuse for energy misuse, energy saving mission and make a passion. It was truly a learning experience for the leaders of tomorrow!
REMEMBERING GANDHI JI'S CONTRIBUTION TO THE FREEDOM STRUGGLE
An eager wait of the students of grade 3 from Presidium Gurgaon recently came to fruition when they got a chance to present a skit on Gandhi Ji's life and his contribution to the freedom struggle on his birth anniversary. The special assembly began with the enthusiastic children arriving, dressed in beautiful costumes and scarcely able to contain their excitement. The program started with a brief introduction on Gandhi Ji's life and how his role in attaining freedom for India was pivotal. The whole performance reached a delightful crescendo as the students looked on spellbound. This was followed by taking an oath of non-violence where the students solemnly put their hands on their hearts and promised themselves that they would 'respect self and others', 'communicate better', 'listen', 'forgive', 'respect nature', 'play creatively' and 'be courageous'.
DUSSEHRA REVELS AT PRESIDIUM GURGAON: FESTIVE SPIRIT IN THE AIR
Marking the celebration of victory of good over evil, effigies of the demon king Ravana are burnt on Dussehra, to celebrate which, a special assembly was held on the occasion. The assembly started with a captivating speech and a beautiful rhythmic Hindi poem by our confident students to give a vivid description of this festival. The students were delighted to share their learning from the festival of Dussehra in the form of a song. Our little ones enacted a short scene from Ramleela enthusiastically and reiterated the message of victory of good over evil. The children were beautifully dressed in costumes and confidently delivered their dialogues. They seemed to thoroughly enjoy their parts! The theme was concluded by singing a devotional bhajan. It was, truly, a memorable day for all.
PLAY WITH CLAY: LITTLE PRESIDIANS RELISH A POTTERY ADVENTURE
Let's have some fun!
What a better way to start your day than with a ball of clay in your hand? Pottery is an ancient art form which has recently been enjoying a surge in popularity. To take our little students on a diya pottery adventure, a 'play with clay' activity was recently organized at Presidium, Gurgaon. A demonstration on wedging clay followed by the steps of throwing a cylinder on the potter's wheel was given to them. Working with clay offered the Presidians a wealth of different processes that gave the opportunity to create unique, tangible and functional artworks to take home.
PRESIDIANS COME TOGETHER FOR PEACE ON INTERNATIONAL PEACE DAY
With the theme - 'together for peace: respect, safety and dignity for all, the International Day of Peace was observed by the grade 2 Presidians from Gurgaon in full bloom. Dedicated to world peace, and specifically the absence of war and violence, the day was celebrated with a special assembly. The Presidians started the assembly by evoking God’s blessings and then showcased a skit to raise awareness and respect for brotherhood, tranquility and harmony.
VISIT TO SRS MART: AN ENRICHING EXPERIENCE FOR LITTLE PRESIDIANS
Inclusion of carefully planned activities and outdoor visits is an inseparable part of pre-schooling and we at Presidium Gurgaon, do our bit to offer first hand knowledgeable experiences to our little students. Recently, our cute Presidians from kindergarten were taken to the nearby SRS Value Bazaar to provide them with information and a level of understanding about everyday commodities. Adding elements of realism to play and enriching their overall learning, the visit to the mart helped the young ones in observing their surroundings and finding the difference between healthy and junk food.
हिन्दी दिवस: प्रेसिडियंस ने नुक्कड़ नाटक और गीत से मान मोह लिया
हिंदी दिवस के अवसर पर प्रिसीडियम गुरुग्राम 57 विद्यालय के परिसर में कक्षा दूसरी ड द्वारा हिंदी सभा का आयोजन किया गया। सभा में शिक्षार्थियों द्वारा नुक्कड़ नाटक और गीत ने समस्त दर्शकों का मन मोह लिया। इसके साथ ही सभा में उन शिक्षार्थियों को पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया जिन्होंने हिंदी विकास संस्था द्वारा आयोजित हिंदी ओलिम्पिक की परीक्षा में राष्ट्रीय और विद्यालय पर अपनी प्रतिभा का उत्कर्ष प्रदर्शन किया। इस तरह पूरे उत्साह व उमंग से विद्यालय में हिंदी दिवस मनाया गया।
SLOGAN WRITING COMPETITION ON HEALTHY FOOD ENTHRALLS PRESIDIANS
Eating well is a form of self-respect!
It’s the nutritional choices that our children make every day, which will determine how healthy they will be in the long run. To create awareness among the children and sensitize them towards keeping fit through healthy food, a slogan writing competition was organized at Presidium, Gurgaon. Enthusiastic and confident to participate in this competition, the young Presidians brought various interesting and nutritious food from home for display. They came up with quite innovative slogans after knowledgeable discussions with their teachers. Many interesting and educational facts were discovered, such as:
1. We should ensure that we eat slowly.
2. We should involve ourselves in food shopping and preparing meals with our mothers.
3. We should not eat meals or snacks while watching TV.
4. We should drink more water while eating.
5. We should eat less meals outside the home.
The effort and thought process of our 'leaders of tomorrow' was worth all the appreciation and accolades!
